When his boss called him to his office, Steve was not too worried since he was a good worker. Once Steve got to his boss’s office, things didn’t turn out as he had expected. The boss Reza, who was always kind to him stared at him and didn’t say anything. He was getting nervous and had some swept on head. A few minutes later, Reza asked: “What did you do yesterday?”
Steve thought a little while and answered: “Nothing special, boss. I was working hard with the machine as usual.”
“What? You know what you did!” Reza started to get angry. “You are fired now because you didn’t tell me the truth!”
“I am sorry Reza, but what did I do? I have been working very hard.” Steve was frozen.
“Are you kidding me?” Reza screamed: “You went to hotel yesterday, right?”
“I can explain that.” Steve was shocked. His face was pale.
“Shut up.” Reza said.
“Please give me five minutes to explain” Steve said with a sad voice.
“Hmm…” Reza was thinking.
Steve said: “Yesterday at lunch time, I wasn’t hungry, but I was tired. I decided to go to hotel for a nap. But I overslept because I forgot to set the alarm clock.” He mumbled under his breath.
“No, no, no…That’s not important. The important thing is you brought my girlfriend to the hotel!!!!” Reza said angrily.
“Boss, I won’t do it anymore, please forgive me. I need this job, please, please!” Steve was begging to Reza.
At this moment, Reza took off his Crocs shoe and threw at Steve, and Steve yelled. Reza hit him very hard, and then kept the Crocs mark on Steve face, "an alligator, that's your punishment. Get out of my office! Don't let me see you anymore!" Then, Reza closed his door powerfully.

The Terrible Robbery

When Jimmy got home, and as he entered the house, he realized everthing had changed. "Oh, my god! What happened?" He yelled. He laid down his bag on the ground, and hesitated a momeng. He hurried up the stairs, and called his wife's name, but no one answered. He rushed to the study room, and tried to find the case which his great-grand-father passed generation to generation and which was really important for him and his family. But it had gone. He looked around, and began to poke round among all his things. He looked like a crazy person. All of his collections, passport, and checks had gone. He was so upset that he sat on the ground weakly. Suddenly, he realized his wife who is a housewife must be at home, but why no one answered just a moment ago. He stood up and called his wife's name loudly while he was running out of the study room. He hurried to the bedroom. He was so worried about his wife that sweat dripped over his head. Unfortunately, the door of the bedroom was locked. He found that the situation was really serious. He heard someone was moving in the room, but where was his wife? Was his wife in the bedroom? How was she? Jimmy became more and more worried. He tried to open the door, but failed. It drove hime crazy. He broke into the door in full force. Suddenly, he saw his wife was laying on the ground, and two people jumped out of the window. He ran to the window quickly and tried to catch them......
He jumped from the bed, and he saw his wife was sleeping beside him. The sweat soaked his clothes. OH!!!!!!!! It was a really terrible dream!!!!!!!!

My Earthquake Experiences in America

Every day, the earth is suffering much kind of natural disasters. Natural disaster is happening constantly in the worldwide. The earth has six lands. In each land, different disasters occur even though we don’t know about disaster. All disasters damage country’s society, economics, cultures, and other things. Therefore, many people are scared every disasters and tried to prevent those disasters. Especially, In California many different disasters sometimes suffer like fire, floods and earthquakes. Places where I live happened earthquakes very often.
The California’s big issue is earthquakes. Furthermore, I already suffered earthquakes while I took not only during in class but also in my house. When I was learning in grammar class, I felt something. I skipped that feeling, but other classmates started to talk about that. It was earthquake! However, the grammar teacher also didn’t care because earthquake occurs very often in this area.
In addition to that experience, I had studied about California earthquake class. That class’s name was Field Study of the San Andreas Fault: San Bernardino to Mecca Hills. I went to there and saw that earthquake’s origin happened in there. I felt nervous when I stepped near the center of an earthquake.
A week ago, I and my roommate’s bodies suddenly were shaking each other. We were very surprised that our apartment also was waving smoothly. The earthquake was happening when we took rest at each room. As I was embarrassed about moment’s earthquake, I didn’t know what I could do. I went outside and saw this situation. I felt earthquake could do anything. After earthquake, I found how to protect from that. Best way to avoid earthquake is to hide under materials like desk, chair and so on. I think people should know about how to save oneself. The earthquake continues even though we don’t know it is happening. So, we should prepare and concern about that.

My first car [ Jun ]
Last week, I bought my first car. Actually, I can't believe this situation because I had no plan for buying car. When I lived in Korea, I always had used public transportation, so I didn't think about buying car during living America. However, I reallized car is very important in here because Riversdied has not developed public transportation. Everything is very uncomfortable. Market is located on very long distance from my apartment, and everything is located on very far away form my house. That's why I decided buying my car. I spend one month for research about used car. It was very difficult to choosing used car.
Finally, I choose brand and model which is Nissan Sentra 2005. It was cheaper than Honda or Toyota used car. So, I searched around used car web site because of finding my satisfied car. However, it was also very difficult thing. I couldn't find car for a one month. At that time, my conversation partner introduced Korean car dealer. Finally, Dealer found the car. He sent mail about car picture. I saw car. It was great for me, so I decided but this car.
Finally, Last week, I bought my first car. I'm so happy, but I worry about something because it is my first car, so I will drive very carefully.

My old class 436
This time I want to write something about my old classmate, because I really miss them. I will never forget that they gave me a surprising 19th birthday party.Because of them, my life in the USA is wonderful. I was glad that I can meet them everyone.Although we are not in the same class now, we still talk to each other every day. This Saturday, we will get together to have a party in my house. I am looking forward to it. I am sure that it will be a great party. We went through a lot last quarter such as the BBQ party which was hold in IV, we watched Alice in Wonderland together, and we had lunch in my home stay and so on. Everything in mind just feels like it happened yesterday. Peter, Julio, Myo, Celina, Havier, Tim, Melanie, Justin, Jaclyn, Dawun, Kiyomi, Wendy, Nikolai, and Sean, I hope you guys can be happy all the time. I wish my new class can be also good. Classmates are very important. Our class will become better and better only we become good friends. 10 weeks are not a long time that we should treasure it well. i flew with the KLM airlines it was vary nice, but when i got there in DC airport they lost my luggage, and it was really bad thing.after that i was so scared that i don't see my uncle i felt so lonely, i was searching for him for like 15min i was depressed i don't know what to do,any way than he surprise me from the back it was so emotional for me, than we did go home i was so tired so i slept for 20hours the next day we did go to the Atlantic city it was the most beautiful thing that i ever seen the sea the people, the casinos, so amazing i had a lot of fun playing games. there were a big place named TAJ MAHAL its a place where you can play roller coaster games. and i did go and see the white house, and the garden in front of it it was vary nice also we rent a car, and go to new york one of the greatest city in the world. the people the buildings it was awesome i had a lot of fun and i think that every body should go to new york.

My favorite sports is baseball, but there are so many people who play softball in USA.
As we can see from the two sports, softball and baseball, have a lot of similar things.
However, they certainly have several differences. From this writing, I will state those different things.
Firstly, baseball has more innings than that of softball. The number of innings in baseball is 9, when in softball is 7.
Secondly, they also have difference in the size of those two balls. In contrast, the size of a baseball is smaller than softball as the size of it is between 7.3~7.5cm when the size of softball has 9.6~9.8cm at it is girth.
One another difference is in the size of those bats. When softball bat has a length of 86.4cm, the length of base ball bat is 106.7cm. Therefore, the length of baseball bat is longer than that of softball.
I have stated few differences, that in my own opinion, those two sports surely are different sports.

It’s about my NY trip. The beginning had a little frightened. When I and my friend arrived the JFK airport and called the shuttle bus driver, the driver was sleeping because he forgot the time. Then we had been waiting for one and half hours before he came.
After that, we arrived the hotel and knocked the door, but nobody answered. However we tried to call the host, even the driver also couldn’t contact the host.It was frightened in a strange place. After a hour ago, we didn't want to wait. Fortunately, we searched the WIFI signal on the street then we found a new hotel!
Although we wasted almost three hours, it couldn't upset our trip because we didn’t have plan. It was a free style trip. “No plan, is plan”, we researched the map of Manhattan where we want to go, just go. We went to many places, such as Metropolitan Museum of Art, Rockefeller center, State of Liberty, Time Square…etc. The most interesting thing was we walked from 86st to 34st and across Brooklyn Bridge! That is a special experience, and I think I will never forget it.

Turning Point
My decision of pursing in academic career in physics dates back to when I was in high school. Since that time, I have been very interested in studying physics so I chose to attend an undergraduate program in physics. I was very influenced by some famous physicists and some of my professors who had gotten their study abroad in the department. With this motivation, I graduated as the top student from the Physics Department.
Although I wanted to continue my master degree in a foreign country, one of my professors offered me a position in their research project in Turkey. I accepted his offer because I wanted to improve myself a lot before I left my country. I graduated as the first students from my master program. In the last quarter of my master program, I applied to Fulbright Scholarship that U.S. government provides. Firstly, I thought that I did not have a chance because there were over than one thousand successful Turkish students were applying also. However, I passed first elimination, and they invited me to an interview in the capital city of Turkey, Ankara. The interview took only fifteen minutes, and it was in English. As you can imagine, I was so excited and it was also difficult to explain my future plans in English at that time. Nonetheless, I explained pretty well how I want to contribute to my country after my U.S. education. After two weeks, they announced the Fulbrighters and I was surprised. I was so happy because they chose only sixty students from over than one thousand and I was one of them. I was chosen to do finish my Ph.D. (Doctorate of Philosophy) in physics.
Two months later after the first announcement, I was awarded with another scholarship. My first scholarship’s plan was to come here in September just before my Ph.D. However, they offered me to come here in January and take Intensive English classes for eight months to improve my English and to get used to live in a different country. I accepted their offer because to gain another scholarship form them was honor for me, so I left my job, my school, and my country. It was not easy and it was a real turning point in my life.
Two years ago, if someone said ‘you will live in California’, I would just laugh, but I am here now and more closely to my future aims. All in all, I learnt at least one thing that there is nothing in the life that you can say it never happens.

Hi, friends! I am Yosuke.
I went to L.A. on last Saturday with my friends, and I will introduce my first trip as following. I have ever been to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) over 10 times for my business trip, but these were just transit to South America. So I really hoped to visit at city of L.A. except for LAX.
At first, we walked along Venice Beach, there were so many people who spent a relax time with family, friends and/or lovers. It's so beautiful place in the world!! Please see a picture of Venice Beach as attached.
And 2nd, we moved to Santa Monica. It's not so far from Venice Beach. There are so many fashionable shops, restaurants and buildings. The streets are planned square and orderly. As this city is located a little high place from sea level, the ocean view from Santa Monica is so magnificent!! I hope to live there after I retired my job, if possible.
And finally, we visited at Hollywood; Grauman's Chinese Theatre and Kodak Theatre. There are many nameplates with handprints and footmarks of famous actor/actress of American entertainment. And we met many copies of Michael Jackson in Hollywood!!
The above is my first visiting at L.A. It's very exciting and fantastic experience for me. If you know the hot places to visit in California, please let me know as comments for this blog.

There are many place you can go, such as shopping malls, nightmarkets...etc.
Also, you can eat variable food in there, if you come to Taiwan, you should try to eat Taiwanese traditional food. For example, Oyster Omelet, Meatballs, Meat Rice Tamales, it so delicious and healthy.
During my free time, I like travel and window shopping.
Last vacation, I went New York City, that is so incredible.
I almost walked half Manhattan to visit there!

My city from is Gunsan Where is located west of Korea. It is small city, but it has a delicious food. It is near the ocean, so It has a lot of seafood. Gunsan is very famous city because of sashimi. Almost 400,000 people live in there. They are very kind and sweet. My favorite hobbies is watching the drama. I remember one, which is famous and fantastic. This drama is Prisonbreak. I was watching this drama through DVD. I had been watching this drama for 3weeks from season1 to season4. I really like Micle who is main actor in this drama. He is very smart and clever. Guangzhou is becoming more and more beautiful because the 2010 Asian Games will be hold in there. There are many shopping mall in my city. The biggest shopping mall there which called Grand View Mall is also the biggest mall in Asia. Althought I have been there many times, I still got lost sometimes. So you can image that how big the mall is!
And the food in Guangzhou is wonderful. You can eat many different kinds of food in there. Not only hamberger!!! Food is cheap and taste good. If you like to eat, I am sure you will fall in love with my city.

Anyway, I really miss my home because my home is located on very nice scenery. I could see beautiful scenery thorough window and I could hear birds song. My hometown has great environment. About Myself
My name is Gonca. I am from Istanbul, Turkey. I came Riverside three months ago. Although I like living in this small city, I miss my hometown very much. Istanbul is a gorgeous city which connects Europe and Asia continents. I believe there is no place on the earth like this city. There is no doubt that the most amazing part of Istanbul is Bosporus side. Also, you can travel between two continents with a ship on the Bosporus. My apartment was at the Europe part of the Istanbu and my job was at the Asian part. I traveled everday between the continents. Isn't it amazing? You can always have something to do in this city and never get bored. If you do not see it, I strongly advise you to visit this dream city. Why did I leave this amazing city? The answer is I want to finish my doctorate degree in the U.S. My major is physics and I finished my master degree in Turkey. I came to U.S. with my Fulbright scholarship to do my Ph.D.
Besides my physics passion, reading articles and books about it, I like swimming and riding bicycle in my leisure time. Swimming is a kind of therapy for me because I love water. Riding bicycle is not only enjoyable activity but also is a kind of transportation for me in Riverside. As a matter of fact, I usually do not have free time, but nowadays it is a little bit different because I am only taking English classes not any physics class.
